Food on the Move

Food on the Move is a pop-up shop that brings affordable grocery options to neighbourhoods throughout St. John’s. The pop-ups create an accessible and welcoming space where people can buy affordable fresh produce and pantry staples and learn about other community events and resources. Food on the Move pop-ups run bi-weekly at locations throughout the City. Visit the Food on the Move website for the list of upcoming dates and locations.

The Food on the Move pop-up shop provides more options to buy good food in the City. During the St. John’s Food Assessment, we repeatedly heard that people felt grocery options were limited. They told us that grocery stores were challenging to get to, too expensive, unwelcoming, or didn’t carry options that they were excited about. Since the Food Assessment, we have experienced record-breaking inflation and food prices have increased dramatically. The barriers to accessing good food are daunting and many of us are unable to regularly afford the food that we want. Through the Food on the Move pop-ups, our goal is to make good food available for everyone.

All are welcome at Food on the Move! Together, we can create more just and sustainable food systems in our province!
